Listen up, as this could become our reality…

It all begins with a notification. Maybe it’s a text or call, or it could be a retweet, like, or share, important or not. But what remains is that you are distracted by your device and are losing track of what should matter the most: the person sitting across from you.

This could be our society as we know it. While using humor is a great way to appeal to this upcoming Gen Z’s problem with social media dependence, it also comes with a staggering fact. Frankly, this issue has a chance of manifesting if no light is shed on it, especially upon this generation. In catching their eye with these ads, these heavy dependents are called to join an exclusive anonymous group called…

The Social Misfits”.

Social Misfits Radio Spot

With this ad campaign, my group wanted to bring awareness to the upcoming Generation Z's social media dependence.

We decided to go rogue in our approach where we won’t have a social media presence to reach them; people would have to rely on word of mouth in order to be informed.

Calling ourselves the Social Misfits prompts us to combat the dependency of social media in which the people are losing the interactions that matter most, especially the ones in front of them. We decided to appeal to these people to a party where no phones are allowed.

In order to do so, we will have a guerrilla campaign in which we will be featuring artworks strategically placed around the DFW area. The targeted demographic will be drawn towards piecing together the hinted letters and numbers from the art to form the address where they will meet.
